LIGHTNING STRIKE VS IMPACT. Glad to provide a brief possible answer. A thunderbolt would be lightning, or megalightning, I assume. Lightning is just high velocity electrons. Electrons have very little mass. Without a lot of mass (despite considerable velocity), they can't move much mass. An asteroid over 60 miles in diameter would have tremendous mass and the momentum from the product of its mass and velocity would move some very large masses, namely continents and islands. One of Mike Fischer's webpages listed above explains about how much mass & momentum were involved in the asteroid impact & continental movements.
