ROCK STRATA [Image: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stratum#/media/File:Quebrada_de_Cafayate,_Salta_(Argentina).jpg ] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stratum — A stratum is a layer of rock or sediment [with] properties ... that distinguish it from adjacent layers from which it is separated by visible surfaces known as either bedding surfaces or bedding planes. [Strata is a series of layers of rock in the ground.]
MEGASEQUENCES [Image: https://futureschool.boards.net/thread/47/8-12-cataclysmic-history?page=1&scrollTo=595 ] — https://www.icr.org/article/grappling-with-megasequences Megasequences are defined as packages of sedimentary rock bounded top and bottom by erosional surfaces, with coarse sandstone layers at the bottom ..., followed by shales, and then limestone at the top.... ... The megasequences are interpreted as representing the depth of the sea at the particular time each one was laid. [The water depth was actually higher than the level of each deposition.]
UNCONFORMITY [Image: https://geology.utah.gov/map-pub/survey-notes/glad-you-asked/unconformity/ ] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unconformity An unconformity is a buried erosional or non-depositional surface separating two rock masses or strata ..., indicating that sediment deposition was not continuous. In general, the [lower sequence] was exposed to erosion for an interval of time before deposition of the [next upper sequence], but the term is used to describe any break in the sedimentary geologic record.

NOAH’S FLOOD PAPER: MEGASEQUENCES https://www.socalsem.edu/noahs-flood-the-key-to-correct-interpretation-of-earth-history/
The Tapeats Sandstone corresponds to the base of what is known as the Sauk Megasequence, the lowest of six sediment megasequences, originally identified and described by Sloss (1963) in North America, that are separated from one another by global-scale erosional unconformities (Snelling 2009, 528-530, 740-741). Figure 11 is a simplified representation of how these six large packages of sediment are distributed in an east-west direction across the North American continent. What is striking is that separating each megasequence from the next is a craton-wide erosional unconformity. The six erosional unconformities essentially beveled the continental surface flat before the deposition of the next thick sequence of sedimentary layers. As just mentioned, the Tapeats Sandstone and its equivalents lie just above the first of these six erosional unconformities. It is also useful to note here that where Neoproterozoic Ediacaran sediments are present, this first erosional unconformity occurs just beneath these sediments. The basal formation of the next megasequence, known as the Tippecanoe Megasequence, is the widely distributed St. Peter Sandstone. Figure 12 displays the lateral distribution for this distinctive sandstone formation.

[TIDAL PULSES DEPOSITED MEGASEQUENCES]
The experiments conducted thus far indicate that six [tidal] pulses spaced about 30 days apart are adequate to erode, transport, and deposit, on average, the 1,800 m of sediment observed to blanket the continental surface today. The strong, global-scale tsunami-like waves these pulses initially generate do indeed result in erosional unconformities that affect most of the continent surface.

TIDAL PULSES WERE CAUSED BY MOON ON ECCENTRIC ORBIT
https://www.thunderbolts.info/forum3/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=13&p=8235#p8193
The paper quoted in that post is The Moon In Upheaval, by Charles Ginenthal. It shows much evidence that the Moon came close to a large body, possibly the Earth, which caused large tidal forces on the Moon. Some of the Moon's features likely caused by these tidal forces are the large, dark maria or mares, the subsurface breccia (broken rocks) all over the Moon, mascons (mass concentrations) too near the surface, a lunar bulge, moonquakes around mare edges, internal heat, most craters (similar to the craters on Io, Jupiter's moon which are due to tidal forces from Jupiter -- also similar to craters formed by underground nuclear explosions), lineaments (faults), bubbling volcanism, escaping gases and water vapor, domes, sedimentary layering, microcraters, thermoluminescence, meteoric dust, radioactivity and magnetic fields.

__Use of Sedimentary Megasequences to Re-create Pre-Flood Geography
https://digitalcommons.cedarville.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1036&context=icc_proceedings
_p359 This shows an interesting map of Pangaea, much of it under shallow seas. The paper only deals with the Americas and Africa.
_p363 The Zuni megasequence (the one before the Cenozoic) covers the Gulf of Mexico and offshore from west & southeast Africa
_p364 It covers offshore from east South America
_p366 The Tejas megasequence (from Cenozoic to now) covers the Gulf of Mexico and offshore from east North America
_p367 It covers similar to p363, but also into the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea
_p368 It covers similar to p364, and also the southern part of the Gulf of Mexico and into the Caribbean Sea
_The first four megasequences, before Zuni and Tejas, do not cover the Gulf of Mexico or offshore areas in the Atlantic etc.

Can ‘megasequences’ help define biblical geologic history? https://creation.com/images/pdfs/tj/j29_2/j29_2_16-25.pdf
The 6 megasequences are: 1) Sauk, 2) Tippecanoe, 3) Kaskaskia, 4) Absaroka, 5) Zuni, and 6) Tejas.
According to this article, the following conventionally named strata occurred approximately within each megasequence.
1) Sauk: +Cambrian+
2) Tippecanoe: -Ordovician +Silurian+
3) Kaskaskia: -Devonian +Mississippian
4) Absaroka: Pennsylvanian +Permian +Triassic+

IMPACTS DURING MEGASEQUENCE DEPOSITIONS
_Impacts appear to have been occurring since before the Great Flood. I posted a fairly up-to-date list of craters at http://funday.createaforum.com/3-12/2-47/?message=453 . I got the list of craters from Wikipedia and I got the megasequence conversions from Figure 2 at https://creation.com/images/pdfs/tj/j29_2/j29_2_16-25.pdf . I then added the megasequences to the list of craters.
_Here's a summary of the data, showing the numbers of known small, medium and big craters in each megasequence. Small is under 10 km diameter. Moderate is 10 to nearly 50 km. Big is over 50 km diameter. More details are posted at http://funday.createaforum.com/3-12/2-47/?message=454 .
--- POST-TEJAS (7 Craters: 6SM, ........ 1BIG==53km)
--- TEJAS (58 Craters: 39SM, 16MOD, 3BIG==52, 85, 90km)
--- ZUNI (41 Craters: 19SM, 18MOD, 4BIG==60, 65, 70, 180km)
--- ABSAROKA (27 Craters: 14SM, 11MOD, 2BIG==80, 85km)
--- KASKASKIA (14 Craters: 7SM, 3MOD, 4BIG==50, 52, 54, 110km)
--- TIPPECANOE (14 Craters: 9SM, 5MOD)
--- SAUK (18 Craters: 11SM, 6MOD, 1BIG==90km)
--- PRE-SAUK (19 Craters: 7SM, 8MOD, 4BIG==60, 70, 130, 160km)
_Before the Sauk was deposited there were 4 big impacts and 8 moderate, all of which could possibly have caused volcanism. The biggest occurred in the Pangaea regions of Africa, N.America, Australia & again N.America. The two big ones in Africa and N.America were nearly as big as Chicxulub, which latter occurred during the breakup.

7TH MEGASEQUENCE
https://creation.com/images/pdfs/tj/j29_2/j29_2_16-25.pdf
Clarey reported on the results of his analyses of transcontinental Sloss stratigraphic sequences, which he also defines as ‘megasequences’: “Using data from over 500 stratigraphic columns, I examined megasequences across North America to document the sedimentary evidence for the Flood’s catastrophe. At each site, the megasequence boundaries were identified, along with the thicknesses and extent of individual rock types.”
_A new seventh megasequence was identified by Clarey at the Midcontinent Rift of North America: “Preliminary results demonstrate the presence of a seventh megasequence below the six common fossil-bearing megasequences. It lies just below the Sauk Megasequence in what secularists [i.e. naturalists] call the late Precambrian or Proterozoic Era. However, this newly delineated pre-Sauk sequence may be instrumental in documenting the onset of the Flood. “In part, the pre-Sauk megasequence was created by a tremendous outpouring of basaltic lava that split open central North America and caused the Midcontinent Rift."

I got most of the info on megasequences above from my forum thread, which was covered on 6 pages of the forum. I gathered the info into one post at my personal forum at http://funday.createaforum.com/new-board-22/5-5/ . You may like to read through that if interested in further info on megasequences.
My original forum thread, which is still ongoing, is called Creationism, Myth and Catastrophism, and here's a list of the pages and posts where the megasequences info was first posted.
